Job Description

Overview of responsibilities :

We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of five (5) years of post-certification experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in accordance with applicable codes, safety standards, and project specifications. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings

Interpret and work from electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Perform electrical installations including panels, breakers, transformers, conduit, wiring, lighting systems, motors, and controls

Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing devices and tools

Ensure all work complies with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), local bylaws, and company standards

Conduct preventative maintenance and system inspections

Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to apprentice electricians

Coordinate work with project managers, site supervisors, inspectors, and other trades

Complete job documentation, service reports, and material take-offs as required

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite at all times

Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety policies

Qualifications :

Qualifications & Experience

Valid Journeyman Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred or equivalent provincial certification)

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician

Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)

Experience with commercial and/or industrial electrical systems considered a strong asset

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and time-management skills

Knowledge requirements :

The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools
knowledge of building and construction
maths knowledge for understanding technical plans
to be thorough and pay attention to detail
problem-solving skills
the ability to use your initiative
the ability to work well with your hands and use equipment safely
customer service skills for working with colleagues and clients
to be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
